Ice Cream for Breakfast Art Lesson
Mark your calendar for the annual
Ice Cream for Breakfast event in your art room!
If you know me, you're aware, likely well aware, of my love of all things ice cream. Specifically my favorite brand, Jeni’s, because it’s the actual best. Not only was it founded in my city of Columbus, Ohio, Jeni herself is quite an inspiration.
So it comes as no surprise, I would find a way to combine two of my loves-
ice cream and art.

Keep reading to see how I used this event to inspire a very sweet elementary art lesson.
When introducing the lesson to your students, ask them which flavor best describes their personality. Are they feeling salty and relate to Salted Carmel? A little sour like Lemon Bar? Or all sweet like Maple Soaked Pancake pictured above? One of my students is obsessed with the color purple so they definitely would choose Wildberry Lavender.
Would they choose a cone 🍦 or a dish 🍨 ? How could they design a sundae that includes toppings that tells a story about their life? Invite students to wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed animal to art class.
Have I taken the whole ice cream thing a little too far? Never. Ice cream makes everything better- including art class!
Just look at these cool treats…
